A Different Approach to Senior Retirement Living

At Oak Park Estates Assisted Living and Memory Care, the focus is on a small, homelike setting with personalized care services for the elderly. The setting is small, hallways are short and the feeling is warm and welcoming. Oak Park feels like home, and residents are family.
Assisted living care is often the next step after independent senior living. Our goal is to anticipate and meet residents’ needs with compassion — from assistance with daily tasks to enrichment activities to memory care — and allow residents to age in place for as long as possible. Should a resident need to move on to a skilled nursing community, Oak Park works with families to make the transition a smooth one.

Nursing Care for Dementia

A Vision and Mission to Provide a Better Experience

Oak Park owner Luke Moore is a native of the Cedar Falls-Waterloo area and a leukemia survivor. His experiences as a young man who needed assisted living care while battling cancer have greatly influenced his approach to Oak Park.

Luke has created Oak Park to be unlike other retirement assisted living communities. Smaller in size than many centers, Oak Park was mindfully designed to provide an intimate, homelike environment, and it’s his vision for warm, personalized care that drives Oak Park’s mission to treat residents like family.

Oak Park Estates is a private-pay facility. We accept veterans benefits and long-term care insurance.

Meet Our Team

Michelle Rasbeck, RN, Director

My name is Michelle and I am the Director at Oak Park Estates. I have been in healthcare for 17 years. I began my nursing career on a whim and fell in love with caring for others, especially Seniors. Working in Assisted Living gives me the opportunity to do so many things I love:

  • Education – teaching caregivers how to approach Residents with Dementia. Showing a care team the importance of being dedicated and creative and following interventions put in place to allow Residents to live in Assisted Living for as long as possible.
  • Caring for Senior Citizens – I have always enjoyed spending time with my Residents, being in their presence puts me at ease and makes me happy, they are my friends and I love them.
  • Helping others during difficult times – moving from your home, or entrusting your loved one to others is scary, sad and extremely difficult.  I often meet with families or Residents who never saw a move coming, they have a fall or other change in their situation that prevents them from going home for a very long time and sometimes never again. In that moment, I care greatly about providing a home away from home that feels comfortable and safe.

It is exciting to have the opportunity to be a part of Oak Park Estates. In the little time we have been open, it is very clear the Oak Park Estates floor plan is perfect for promoting socialization and togetherness – when our residents walk out of their apartments, they walk right into the action. It is every health care professional’s dream to have the time to develop close relationships with those they are caring for as well as their families. And, because to our small size, this comes with ease.
